This week, I will assess the singers, identify their voice type and establish a seating chart.
I will find out who wants to participate in the TMEA Region auditions.
We will review/learn ascending intervals in a Major pentascale for ear training and singing purposes. Also how to recognize them on the staff.
Continue proper singing posture and body awareness.
SS daily to prepare for Regions.
Apply theory/rhythm/history as the music requires.
Learn music for both TMEA Region auditions and first concert.

I am Ms. Hoffman and will be your new choir director. I’m looking forward to working with you this year.
On Thursday, we will go over class policies and procedures.
Look up J.S. Bach and Frederic Handel and try to figure out why their posters are on top of each other in the classroom.
Singers 1 – p. 2-3 – DO NOT WRITE IN THE BOOK. Use a separate piece of paper.
Singers 2 – p. 3-4 -DO NOT WRITE IN THE BOOK. Use a separate piece of paper.
Singers 3 – p. 2-5 -DO NOT WRITE IN THE BOOK. Use a separate piece of paper.
Anaylize 50’s medley – Look at what’s alike, what’s different and how is it different. Look for things you recognize and things that you don’t.
Materials Needed:
- 1 inch black binder
- Sharpened pencils
- Pencil pouch
- 5 Tab dividers (music, sight singing, theory, history, misc.)
- Yellow Highlighter (optional)
Concert Attire:
Girls:
- Polo shirts – to be purchased through the choir department at the beginning of the semester
- LONG Black skirts (to the ankle)
- Closed toe ballet flats
- Hair out of the face
Boys:
- Polo shirts – to be purchased through the choir department at the beginning of the semester
- Black pants – Keep on top of your growth spurts so that they don’t get too short
- Black calf socks – NO ANKLES SHOWING
- Black dress shoes
